Description

WHO WE ARE

STM Group (UK) Ltd is an award-winning company that provides bespoke manpower service solutions. It specialises in delivering high-quality security, cleaning, and customer-focused services underpinned and supported by leading-edge technology.

Responsibilities

The Security Officers are responsible for responding to any Incidents as appropriate and ensuring that the Duty Station Manager and Station staff are informed by proactive use of the station’s radios. Suitable, clear, spoken instructions are required for this operation, and you may need to liaise with customers to help and assist with any travel / local information. The Security Officer must learn and understand the local information and use the local boards provided to help and assist any customers.

Where applicable, other duties may include:

  • Security officers are required to carry out full patrols of the Station. A tagging mechanism may be provided to log all patrols undertaken; however, guidance/training will be provided. You will be given a clear outline of your tagging areas and a timeline for tagging.
  • As a Security Officer, you must ensure that all Station procedures regarding emergencies and safety are adhered to, which may also include informing customers and staff. A high priority for all stations is to ensure that all personnel stand behind the yellow line and that the local regulations are adhered to.
  • To carry out the tasks agreed upon by the STM management/supervisors or station duty manager.
  • Be fully conversant with your station’s evacuation plans and implement actions as detailed in section 3.1 of these assignment instructions. The STM management team will provide full training and documented refresher training as required.
  • Undertake and record all Station Security Searches as defined by your station’s Department for Transport category, including lifts / disabled ramps/toilets where appropriate and as directed by Station staff and the STM Management Team.
  • Staff members may assist customers at the station, but when assisting with prams/buggies, they must only carry the pram/buggy, as the customer is responsible for carrying the child.
  • To fully support running a right-time railway considering train performance in all duties, including reporting delayed trains and reasons for the delays to SWR operational control.
  • Taking the lead in whether a BTP, Police or Emergency Service response is required and keeping station staff fully briefed until they arrive. The Security Officer must then draw up a clear outline of the Incident in the “Incident Report” form, and details must include what happened and the action initiated.
  • All HOT and WHAT principles must be adhered to and carried out.
  • Any suspicious packages or persons must be reported to the DSM or BTP on-site immediately.
