  PURPOSE OF THE JOB:  Provide security services for patients, visitors and staff throughout the hospital, clinics and administrative facility.   QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school diploma or GED.   2. Ability to successfully complete and maintain CPR certification.    3. Security experience preferred.   4. Documented experience and training in physical restraining combative individuals using a minimum of force or successfully complete before first sole duty.   5. Valid State of Alaska driver’s license required.   6. Demonstrated ability to tactfully and successfully interact with the public in a cross-cultural setting.  Must be physically fit (job requirements: heavy lifting, possible physical restraining violent individuals).  Yupik fluency is desirable.  Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to the privacy act.   This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g. pediatric/adult/geriatric) and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned unit’s policies and procedure WORKING CONDITIONS: Will be working primarily indoors, but will be required to be involved in highly sensitive emotional and physical crisis' and need to deal with these in a calm, logical manner. Will be unarmed. Will be required to accompany violent or belligerent patients and medical evacuation to Anchorage. SUPERVISED BY: Security Manager or Assistant Manager when delegated from Security Manager.
