What You’ll Do Ensure the safety of clients, staff, and visitors, protect Camillus House property, respond to emergencies, and enforce campus rules and procedures with professionalism and compassion. Your Key Responsibilities: Campus Patrol & Safety Monitoring Patrol campus grounds and buildings on foot to ensure all doors, windows, and gates are secured. Watch for signs of fire, safety hazards, or dangerous conditions and report them promptly. Conduct regular checks of dormitories, confirming your presence to residents. Identify and report damage, malfunctions, suspicious activity, or safety risks across campus. Security Operations & Compliance Assist all individuals in complying with Camillus House regulations and campus conduct rules. Issue traffic and parking citations when appropriate. Respond to requests for routine departmental services (e.g., unlocking suites, offices, and meeting spaces). Provide security coverage for special events and provide crowd control as assigned. Maintain a professional, welcoming environment consistent with organizational values. Responsibility: Protect the environment and all entrusted resources. Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED required. Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and/or certification will be considered. Experience & Skills 4–5 years of security experience. Experience making sound decisions using good judgment in routine and urgent situations. Strong conflict-resolution and de-escalation skills. Ability to read and interpret departmental policies and procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to operate security-related equipment (radios, AEDs, flashlights, golf carts, etc.). CPR and basic first aid certifications preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows; additional computer skills a plus. Ability to lead a team effectively while remaining calm under pressure. Capability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Culturally sensitive to the needs of vulnerable populations. Must be at least 21 years old and free of felony convictions. Licenses & Background Requirements Class D Florida Security License. Valid Florida Driver License with clean driving record. Successful completion of: Toxicology screening Level II background screening OIG reference check Language skills: English proficiency required; Spanish preferred; additional languages (e.g., Creole) a plus. Physical RequirementsThis role requires the ability to: Sit, stand, walk, kneel, climb, bend, stoop, push/pull, crouch, crawl. Lift and carry items under 25 lbs. Perform repetitive motions and maintain manual dexterity. Work Environment Work takes place both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to dust, dirt, inclement weather, and confined spaces may occur. Schedule Flexible schedule required; shifts include mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
