Overview St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, affiliated with Catholic Health Services of Long Island, is located in Smithtown, NY on a beautiful 110-acre campus that includes a 290-bed community hospital, a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility, and a 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building. SCS is engaged with error reduction initiatives and on a journey to High Reliability. We have been recognized in superior care in stroke and sepsis patients, have also recently attained Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery, and have been designated as the only Baby Friendly hospital in Suffolk County. Job Details The Security Officer provides professional security observation and protective services throughout the Medical Center. Responsibilities: Patrols the Hospital and grounds Monitors visitors, staff and patients Ability to cope with physical and emotional stress Utilizes discretion and diplomacy when enforcing the Medical Center's NO smoking policy Position is strenuous requiring extensive walking, working both indoor and outdoor in all types of weather. Light to heavy lifting may be required Requires possible restraint of patients, visitors and/or family members Escorts personnel to and from buildings as necessary Concentrates efforts on preserving peace, protecting persons/ property, and safety issues by utilizing effective observation techniques Writes Security incident reports as required and performs other related duties as assigned Deals with outside agencies routinely (SCPD, DOH, OSHA) in a professional and appropriate manner Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or military preferred Must possess clean/valid N.Y.S. driver's license Must meet N.Y.S. Security Guard license, training and registration or be currently employed as a Police Officer in accordance with NYS law Salary Range Starting from USD $28.00/Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
