OVERVIEW:

EHN Complex Needs Emergency Facility Saskatoon is specifically designed to support individuals with elevated and unique needs. This facility provides essential services to people who require specialized emergency shelter support, where clients are accommodated based upon an assessment of their needs with the purpose of delivering services to clients within the community.
Position Overview: We are seeking a qualified Security Guard to join our team at the EHN Complex Needs Emergency Facility in Saskatoon. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring CCTV systems, conducting site patrols, and responding to emergencies. This position requires a valid Saskatchewan Security Guard Certificate, successful completion of the Saskatchewan Security Guard Training Course, or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 license and personal vehicle for transportation.
  • Saskatchewan Security Guard Certificate, successful completion of the Saskatchewan Security Guard Training Course, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of security experience, loss prevention, or investigations, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Must provide documentation of a clean Criminal Record
  • Certification or training in mental health crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques is an asset.
  • Ability to work evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.
  • Minimum 18 years of age, and able to support the physical demands of the position
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs when required.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and in control during emergencies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated sensitivity toward clients experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using various computer programs, including MS Office, and willingness to learn new programs.

Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to calls for service, utilizing effective de-escalation techniques and appropriate intervention strategies for managing situations where individuals become agitated.
  • Calmly and safely resolve incidents through non-violent crisis intervention.
  • Ensure the safety of both clients and staff
  • Adhere to the policy of least restraint, utilizing restraints only as a last resort.
  • Conduct proactive foot patrols, spot checks, and surveillance.
  • Escort personnel and assist with emergency evacuations.
  • Investigate incidents, document findings, complete Incident Reports, and address safety hazards.
  • Provide support for clients with acute detox and mental health concerns, utilizing specialized training in mental health crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Guard and observe clients, conduct rounds, and assist with admissions and discharges.
  • Inventory client belongings, remove contraband, and catalogue dangerous weapons.
  • Monitor security cameras and secure facility entrances and offices.
  • Patrol properties to deter theft, vandalism, and illegal activities.
  • Ensure property safety and respond to emergencies.
  • Manage key control and physical access procedures and conduct daily facility inspections, adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Monitor fire systems, assist with emergency preparedness, and call codes when necessary.
  • Provide training to new employees and familiarize them with work processes.
