Purpose Statement:   The Security Officer will be responsible for all aspects of security and safety throughout the school campus while maintaining a courteous and professional interaction with everyone.  Duty hours vary depending on the needs of the school.     Personal Qualifications:    * A born-again believer with a testimony of salvation by receiving Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.   * An active member in good standing at a Bible-believing church.   * Public and private life that demonstrates Biblical qualities of a Christian role model at home, work, and in the community.   * Practice principles of Christian growth including prayer, study, witnessing, and discipleship.   * Physical and mental characteristics to perform the job description and duties.      Professional Qualifications: Possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Security Officer License.  Possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Security License preferred.  One to two years of security experience is desirable but not required. Specific responsibilities are listed below: * Communication - Able to communicate effectively at all levels.  This includes verbal and written communication.  Able to conduct training sessions or attend meetings as necessary. * Teamwork - Able to work as part of a team and demonstrate the flexibility and willingness required to assist other departments as needed. * Carpool - Properly setup and breakdown the carpool areas and monitor the carpool activity. * School events - Cover, as needed, different school events.   These events include, but are not limited to, school chapels, sporting events, musicals, etc.  Posts could be indoors or outdoors.  The officer is expected to remain on post until the venue is cleared or properly relieved. * Safety walks - Conduct multiple safety walks throughout the day.  Safety walk responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Checking all exterior doors and gates to ensure they are locked. * Ensuring that all classroom doors are closed and locked. * Ensuring that small kids are not walking around unescorted. * Ensure that electrical, utility rooms, etc. are safe (no leaks, puddles, electrical sparks, etc.) * Perimeter walks - Conduct multiple exterior walks throughout the day.  Perimeter walk responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Ensure all doors and gates are locked. * Damaged property (broken or cracked glass, graffitti, leaks, etc.) * Lights are operational * Loitering * Observe vehicles (lights on, doors open, etc.) * After school - Monitor after school activities and ensure that all students are directed to the proper destination.  * Incidents - Report all incidents to the Director of Security immediately.  Prepare thorough incident reports.  Reports are expected to be professional, concise and well written. * Security Exercises - Schedule and monitor security exercises.  Offer constructive and positive suggestions to improve the process.   * Evacuation * Lockdown * Technology - Able to learn how to operate the different security systems that are in place.  This includes daily use and troubleshooting of the systems as well as communicating with the appropriate department/vendor when additional assistance is needed.  These systems include, but are not limited to: * ID badges * Visitor Management System * Surveillance * Access Control * Inspections/audits - Able to conduct ongoing inspections/audits of various equipment.  Some include, but are not limited to, the following: * Fire extinguishers - Familiar with the location of the fire extinguishers.  Inspect the extinguishers on a regular basis. * Silent alarms - Ensure they are all communicating with the central station and that the batteries are charged. * Two way radios - Inventory on a periodic basis and ensure that they are operational. * First aid kit (jump bag) - Ensure that supplies are not expired or damaged. * Access Control - Properly distribute and collect all access control items to the various personnel.  This includes keys, FOB cards, ID badges, etc. * First aid - Offer first aid and support the school nurse as needed. * Other duties as assigned Preferred Skills Effective communicator (verbal and written).  Able to use and operate various technical systems.   Able to stand for extended periods of time.  Able to walk for extended periods of time.  Able to lift up to 25lbs.  Work in all types of weather.  Work different shifts. Schedule: * Monday - Friday (days and hours vary depending on needs) and Saturday for scheduled events.
