Overview UnityPoint - St. Luke's - Downtown campus Security Officer Hours: Full time (40 hours per week), nights 6pm-6am, rotating weekends and holidays The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for all UnityPoint Health properties. This role monitors hospital buildings and premises to prevent theft, vandalism, unauthorized intruders, and protects patients, team members, and visitors. Responsibilities Monitors the safety and security of the hospital through documented inspection tours and customer focused interactions. Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders. Monitors the conduct of visitors on hospital premises and appropriately questions/escorts unauthorized persons as needed. Performs investigations and reports safety and security violations as needed. Monitors, manages and responds to hospital security systems such as cameras, panic alarms, access control systems, infant abduction systems and wandering systems. Maintains a daily security log of all interactions. Creates incident reports and unusual occurrence reports when necessary. Documents and labels body-worn camera (BWC) recordings after use. De-escalates high tension situations with professional verbal de-escalation, physical de-escalation, and security tools when required to keep our patients, team members, and community safe. Similar safety and security duties as requested. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Experience: Military, Law Enforcement, or medical background preferred. Customer service or public relations experience. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license required. Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire. Completion of Advanced De-Escalation, Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required within 90 days of hire. Child Abuse and Adult Dependent Mandatory Reporter required within 90 days of hire.
