At NorthBay Health the Armed Security Officer is responsible for promoting a safe healthcare environment by serving as a deterrent to violent behavior and/or criminal activity through their presence and ability to respond to an incident that poses a serious threat of death or great bodily injury. The Armed Security Officer is primarily assigned to the Emergency Department and associated waiting areas. Their security and safety responsibilities extend to all medical facilities owned and/or operated by NorthBay HealthCare and individual assignments or responsibilities may be dependent on the activity, need for assistance or direction of the Security Program Director. The armed Security Officer will also prepare reports documenting their response to calls for service. Primary Job Duties * To provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. * Helps to identify and resolve security related problems; serves as a “first responder” to incidents posing a safety hazard to individuals in the area and notifies law enforcement if practical and/or deemed necessary. * Primarily assigned to the Emergency Department but can have responsibility extended to all medical facilities owned and/or operated by NorthBay HealthCare and individual assignments or responsibilities may be dependent on the activity, need for assistance or direction of the Security Program Director. * Armed security officers must be able to act without immediate supervision and exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies. * Reports will contain all the important facts of the incident known at the time and be neat, legible, free of spelling errors, accurate and grammatically correct. * Interviews persons with complaints and makes proper disposition or directs them to the proper authorities. * Gives advice and general information to inquiries from the public. * Enters or retrieves data from a computer terminal, PC or other keyboard device. *  Perform other duties as assigned. Compensation Structure NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan.
