Potomac St, Aurora, CO 80012 - Aurora, CO 80012 Position Type: Part Time: FTE 0.2-0.9 Education Level: High School Salary Range: $18.87 - $28.25 Hourly Job Category: Facilities Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Part-time/Weekend Safety Support Professional, also known as a Security Officer, to join our Safety and Security Team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for our clients and staff across multiple facilities. As a key team member, you will provide first-line response to escalated situations, proactively identify security concerns, and support the well-being of clients enrolled in outpatient services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and security, particularly within healthcare or mental health settings, and be adept at handling high-pressure situations. A commitment to trauma-informed care, the ability to assess and respond to diverse scenarios, and strong rapport-building skills are essential for success in this role. Schedule: This part-time position averages 24–26 hours per week and is fully onsite/in-person. The schedule includes Saturday and Sunday, 7:45 AM–4:15 PM, plus Monday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM. Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly. $18.87 - $28.25 per hour Essential Functions: Protect AMHR staff, clients, and AMHR property by maintaining a safe and secure environment. Identify any safety or security concerns, including signs of crime or disorder, investigate disturbances, and address them accordingly. Report any safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances verbally and provide a written report. Engage with clients and staff to support healthy and therapeutic engagement, management of interpersonal conflict, and prevention of escalation and other critical incidents. Provide first-line response to escalated clients and incidents. Perform both verbal de-escalation and physical management/control techniques on individuals showing signs of emotional, verbal and/or physical aggression. Transport or provide support during transportation of escalated clients or clients in crisis. Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property. Detain criminals and evict violators. Monitor and control access at building entrances, including patrolling the buildings and perimeter. Monitor alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment if applicable. Unlock and secure buildings as directed. Greet all guests, clients, and employees in a cheerful and welcoming manner. Participate in and help facilitate safety drills across our facilities. Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings as requested. Provide excellent customer service, adhering to AMHR values and philosophy of care. Provide operational and procedural support to ensure daily operations are executed in accordance with established procedures. Demonstrate commitment to professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all business transactions, and provide the highest customer satisfaction. Qualifications Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred. 1 - 3 years of experience in a security/safety role is required. Must have a valid Driver’s License and must pass an MVR check. Must be able to drive in inclement weather, including snow, rain, ice, and wind. Experience working in behavioral health setting or programs preferred. Prior safety/security/law enforcement/military background preferred. Knowledge of safety awareness practices and protocols. Knowledge of human behavior and de-escalation techniques. Ability to communicate with clients, co-workers, other agencies and the community. Ability to manage high stress situations routine crisis situations through de-escalation and/or physical management/safety training. Ability to carry out diverse job duties in an efficient manner and maintain flexibility in assigned tasks. Ability to train staff in safety practices and de-escalation techniques. Skilled in understanding situational awareness and recognizing potential threats. Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving. Self-starter who takes initiative in starting and completing tasks, ability to exercise independent judgment, and work productively with a minimum of supervision. Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to clients, staff, and projects. Excellent problem solving, communication skills, and positive attitude. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as requested. Required Vaccination and TB Test.
