JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a professional and responsible Security Officer with a background in law enforcement or regulatory enforcement to join our team in the City of Stratford. This position involves patrolling designated areas and issuing parking tickets to vehicles that violate local bylaws. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of traffic regulations and bylaw enforcement, and will approach interactions with the public professionally.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or bylaw enforcement required
  • Knowledge of parking regulations and municipal bylaws, preferably in Stratford
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License (mandatory)
  • Strong observational and decision-making skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer or handheld device proficiency
  • Must be physically able to walk and patrol for extended periods
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and clean driving record (if vehicle patrol is required)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Municipal Law Enforcement (MLEO) or equivalent is an asset
  • Conflict resolution or de-escalation training
  • Previous experience issuing parking citations

Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned streets and lots to monitor parking compliance
  • Issue tickets for parking violations
  • Document and report violations accurately using handheld or electronic systems
  • Respond calmly and professionally to inquiries or confrontations from the public
  • Liaise with law enforcement or city officials when necessary
  • Complete daily reports and maintain records of issued citations
  • Uphold safety and professionalism at all times
