Wellington College is seeking a proactive and people-focused Security Officer to join our dedicated Operations team. This is a dynamic full time role (12 hour shift patterns) that combines vigilance with empathy, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff, and visitors.
As a trusted presence on site, you will help foster a secure and welcoming environment where education, personal growth, and recreation can flourish. You’ll work closely with colleagues and external partners to respond to incidents, support events, and promote a culture of safety and respect.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • SIA qualified, with reasonable physical fitness.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Calm under pressure, tactful, and discreet.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and a dedicated team player.
  • IT literate (Word, Excel, Outlook) and numerically competent.
  • Committed to safeguarding and upholding professional standards.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ GCSEs (including English and Maths)
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Responsibilities
  • Operate CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, and communication systems.
  • Conduct internal and external patrols on foot, by vehicle, or patrol bike.
  • Respond to fire activations and coordinate evacuations as a first responder.
  • Attend and manage security-related incidents professionally and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records and incident reports.
  • Support College events and emergency responses.
  • Disrupt criminal activity and ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols.
  • Use and maintain security and protective equipment appropriately.
