What is The Role The Elastic Security Endpoint Protections team researches, designs, builds, and integrates visibility and detection capabilities into Elastic Defend, our SIEM and EDR security solution. We are looking for a Security Research Engineer to join our team and help us build innovative features which help secure our users against emerging threats. You will collaborate with individuals throughout Elastic including skilled security researchers, data scientists, and engineers who possess extensive domain expertise in their respective areas. LOCATION SPAIN & UK What You Will Be Doing Research emerging attacker techniques and develop innovative, effective, and resilient detection features. Integrate extended eventing and visibility capabilities into our endpoint codebase. Develop performant and stable endpoint code. Improve efficacy of our detection features by rapidly responding to emerging threats and addressing coverage gaps. Review telemetry data and establish mitigation strategies to limit potential false positives and performance impact. Present research material at security conferences and publish technical content on Elastic Security Labs. Collaborate with other engineering teams and work on cross-functional projects. Contribute to open source Elastic projects used by organizations around the world. Investigate security threats at scale with our global community of users. What You Bring Experience analyzing attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) Strong development experience in C, C++, and Python. Extensive experience in reverse engineering and malware analysis. Subject matter expertise in Windows internals, security features, and system architecture. Collaborative mentality with a strong disposition to learn new skills and technologies. Motivation to succeed in a distributed, fast-paced, and autonomous work environment. Bonus Points: Significant experience in Windows development. Experience developing detection methods for security threats. Enterprise software engineering experience. Vulnerability research and exploit development. macOS and Linux application development experience.
