General Statement:   Under the direction of the Security Manager, the Security Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a secure environment for clients, staff, and visitors of Genesee Health System. This responsibility includes day-to-day operations, as well as maintaining a non-threatening environment in accordance with regulatory guidelines and facility policies.  Minimum Requirements:   Educational Requirements Year(s) of Experience Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/related field One (1) Year of experience supervising staff and (2) years of security experience within the past three (3) years. Associate’s degree in criminal justice/related field Two (2) Years of experience supervising staff and two (2) years of security/public service experience (EMS, Police, Fire), or experience working with behavioral health clients within the past three (3) years.  High school graduation or equivalent  Three to Five (3-5) Years of experience supervising staff and three to five (3-5) years of security experience two (2) of which should be within the past two (2) years.    Additional Requirements:   Must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and be able to pass a driving record check with less than 3 points on your license.  Must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours. Must have a valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) or be eligible to complete CPL certification within an agreed timeframe.  Must posses a valid MCOLES certification under Michigan Public Act 330 or be certifiable by MCOLES standards. Must be able to receive MCOLES certification within 6 months, or in a timeframe agreed upon by the employer.    MCOLES Background Check involves the following areas: Be a citizen of the United States of America.             Have no prior felony convictions (including expunged convictions). Possess good moral character as determined by a favorable comprehensive background investigation. Be free from physical defects, or mental or emotional instabilities, which may tend to impair the efficient performance of an officer’s duties, which might endanger the lives of others.    Preferences:   Valid security license within the state of Michigan. IAHSS Basic, Advanced, or Supervisor certification. CPR, First Aid, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent crisis de-escalation training.   Essential Physical Demands:   * Vision – Position requires the ability to visually assess details at both near and far distances, as well as to perceive depth and spatial relationships with or without reasonable accommodations. * Hearing – Position requires the ability to receive and respond to verbal communication with or without reasonable accommodations. * Lifting, Standing, and Walking With or Without Reasonable Accommodations: * Position requires the ability to lift up to 35lbs on an occasional basis * Position requires the ability to regularly stand for extended periods of time * Position requires the ability to walk at a minimum of 35% up to a maximum of 65% * Position will require the ability to occasionally stoop, bend, or reach to perform work tasks with or without reasonable accommodation. * Position must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including the use of hands and fingers for handling, grasping, typing, writing, or operating equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.
