Description

ABOUT US

The UCL Estate comprises of well over 200 buildings valued at over £2 Billion, more than four million square feet of academic accommodation and approaching 4000 student bedrooms. The scale, variety and complexity of the estate are unparalleled in the sector. Based in the heart of London, it is a dynamic, outward-looking institution. UCL Estates is committed to providing the best possible campus experience, ensuring that its services and infrastructure are sector leading. The Security Systems section is responsible for managing the physical and electronic systems that control our building access and security, and plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of UCL members and assets.

Responsibilities

The Technical Engineer will work closely with the Security team, the wider Estates teams and our incumbent security systems contractor to help manage our systems, deliver changes to our systems, and adopt new technologies as part of new buildings and refurbishment projects. This is not a conventional security system install or maintenance engineer role, but instead an auditing and monitoring role, with some system programming, assisting the Technical Manager with the running of our systems and contracts. The successful candidate will be involved in design and system selection, monitoring the activity of our installation and maintenance contractors, and snagging and handover of Estates project work. In addition, they will help to manage and make changes to systems; and be working with the IT team to implement system upgrades.
