        Job Description  Position Title:  Service Technician I  Division/Location:  Seattle  Pay:  Hourly  Team: Service  Reports to:  Service Install Manager  FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt  Revised Date: 10/23/2019      Position Summary  Responsible for the diagnosis and repair of alarm and home automation systems.      About the Position  Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.  * Repairs door and window sensors, motion sensors, glass break sensors, remote controls, cameras, door locks, and all other products used by Guardian.  * Repairs fire alarm systems installed by Guardian.  * Self-dispatches to site as needed, ensuring prompt arrival to customer’s homes and businesses.  * Suggests upgrading/upselling customer’s equipment packages, when needed.  * Willing to travel as required to perform.  * Participates in the on-call schedule.    Position Requirements  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Key competencies and abilities:  * Ability to problem solve, self-start and work with little direction.  * Flexible and dependable.   * Professional, customer service-oriented attitude.  * Excellent organizational and time/project management skills  * Must take initiative to learn new skills  * Must be willing and able to stay in hotels, motels, or other accommodations provided by the company.  * Flexibility to travel as required to perform the service needs of the company’s customers and to drive extended distances to and from appointments.  * No more than one minor traffic infraction on record in the last three years.  Supervisory Responsibilities:    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.  Education and/or Experience:  * High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.  * Previous customer service experience.  * Two to four years of experience in alarm or similar installations.  Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:  * Valid Electrical 06 license  * NICET II Fire   * Seattle FA1 card   * Valid and current driver’s license  Computer Skills:   To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:  * Comfortable with MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Outlook.  Physical Demands:   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus; uses fingers, hands, arms when working with mouse, keyboard, monitors; must be able to climb a ladder and be flexible enough to crawl through attics and crawl spaces when required.  Work Environment:   The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes work in a typical cubicle type office environment with overhead lighting and temperature control, and low noise levels.  The employee mostly travels from job to job in a company vehicle and will be exposed to outside environmental or on-site conditions.
