POSITION: SECURITY SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN

Location: Rockville, Columbia, DC, Beltsville (MD focused but may perform work in DC and surrounding areas)
Starting Pay: Determined by your skills, system knowledge, and certifications from day one. Happy to discuss in more detail.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Preferred: High school diploma or trade school education.
• Experience: 1-2 years in a related industry is advantageous.
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Maryland and Virginia security technician licenses.
• Skills: Experience with local area networks, network troubleshooting, and knowledge of TCP/IP and Windows Server. Mechanical ability to work with locks and mechanical devices. Knowledge of telecommunications systems is helpful.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Mobility: Able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces.
• Heights: Willingness to work at heights.
• Tool Operation: Proficiency in operating electrical tools.
• Color Differentiation: Ability to differentiate color coding of cables.
• Lifting: Able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.

• Installation and Testing: Install conduit, cabling supports, and pathways for wiring systems. Terminate and test security system wiring and data cabling.
• Mounting Hardware: Professionally mount security panels, hardware, and devices.
• Equipment Inventory: Assist the foreman with equipment inventory and loading.
• Network Skills: Implement local area networks, including wireless technology.
• Troubleshooting: Solve network and computer issues related to security systems.
• Mechanical Ability: Work with locks and mechanical devices.
• Telecommunications Knowledge: Familiarity with telecommunications systems is beneficial.
