Description

Castles Education provides a specialist education for students aged 7 to 16 with social emotional and mental health needs. Our vision is to change lives for the better through personalised learning, nurture and preparation for life and our values are ‘PRIDE’ PURPOSE, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, DETERMINATION and EXCELLENCE.
We are an independent school but all our places are funded by Local Authorities. All of our pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans and we have an outstanding reputation for our dedication to inclusion.
Following on from our recent school inspection we are excited to expand our teaching team due to an increase in our student numbers from September 2025.

OVERVIEW

We are seeking passionate and dedicated EYFS, KS2, KS3 SEND teachers to join our team. We are looking for teachers with generic specialisms including, Maths, English, Science and Humanities, although other subject areas will be considered.
The ideal candidates will be responsible for creating an engaging learning environment and making positive differences to the lives of the pupils you will teach.
These are exciting and varied roles, the job is demanding but immensely rewarding. Our class sizes are small (6-10 students) and you will be assisted by at least one teaching assistant. Some teaching may be based outside of the classroom, depending on the needs of the students.
Experience of working in an SEMH/SEND school would be an advantage, but is not essential. However, you will need good knowledge of how to teach pupils with varying special needs, effective behaviour management and an understanding of the challenges of SEMH teaching.
Nurture, trauma-informed practice and restorative practice are key aspects of our school culture.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and educational standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively.
  • Experience in classroom management and a proven track record of fostering positive relationships with students.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Prior experience in a teaching role is advantageous but not mandatory.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals who are eager to make a difference in the lives of their students while contributing positively to our school community.
Our successful candidates will have free access to 24 Hour Employee Assistance Programme that provides practical information and support on issues like money management, family and legal information.
We also have a network of Mental Health First Aiders to provide support you in the event you experience issues relating to your mental health.
This is an exciting and varied role where you will be able to make a tangible, positive difference to the lives of the pupils you will support. The job is demanding but immensely rewarding.
At Castles Education, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce, and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
