Somerset | £30,000 – £42,000 | Full-Time | September Start (or sooner)
Maternity Cover until March 2026
An independent specialist school in Taunton is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join their team, supporting students aged 10–18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), autism, and other additional learning needs.
About the Role:
You’ll be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, with a focus on building confidence, curiosity, and progress in a nurturing and structured environment. Small class sizes and a strong support team mean you can truly tailor your teaching to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Science lessons Support students with a range of SEN/SEMH needs in reaching their academic potential
Contribute to assessment, reporting, and curriculum development
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff Promote a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
Experience or interest in working with SEN/SEMH learners Strong subject knowledge in Science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics)
Ability to build positive relationships and inspire learners
Resilience, adaptability, and a student-centred approach
Salary: £30,000 – £42,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
