Are you a committed, compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for your next rewarding opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join a specialist provision in [Location] this September, supporting young learners who face significant challenges in mainstream education.
This is a full-time, term-time only position offering a competitive daily rate of £90–£95, depending on experience. The role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
About the Role
You will play a pivotal role within a specialist setting catering for students aged 11 to 16 who all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) specifically related to SEMH. These learners require a tailored approach to education, and you will work closely with teaching staff, therapists and external agencies to deliver highly personalised support that truly makes a difference.
Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis, both in and out of the classroom
Helping pupils to build confidence and self-esteem through structured routines and consistent guidance
Supporting with behaviour regulation strategies and de-escalation techniques
Encouraging academic and personal progress in line with individual education plans
Promoting a safe, respectful and nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For
We are keen to hear from experienced Teaching Assistants who have worked with children and young people with SEMH, behavioural challenges or in alternative provision. Ideally, you will:
Have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, autism, ADHD or similar challenges
Be resilient, patient, and able to build strong relationships based on trust and respect
Demonstrate a sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Possess excellent communication skills and a calm, confident approach
