Description

New Directions is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to support pupils with emotional and behavioral needs in a supportive and inclusive school environment. The school is based in South Liverpool and is starting in September on a temporary to permanent basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will work closely with individual pupils and small groups, providing tailored support to help manage behaviour, build confidence, and develop positive relationships.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow tailored support plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team and external agencies where needed.
