Our OFSTED rated Outstanding Special Educational Needs school for ages 11-19 in Tameside Manchester is looking for Social Emotional Mental Health Teaching Assistants to join their expert team. The schools cater for children with mental health needs and/ or other additional mild to severe special education needs that all have educational health care plans (EHCP). It is likely that you may come across behaviour that is challenging, so it is required that you are calm and patient in your approaches as well as being resilient and professional. They are looking for staff that are compassionate, creative and can take on a mentoring approach when providing constant support for the children.
The role would be a combination of supporting small class sizes of 6 - 9 children and 1:1 work, therefore being flexible and proactive is key. Their small class sizes ensure that all learners benefit from a consistent and supportive approach from all staff, including therapists, and are given every opportunity to thrive and develop as individuals. They have amazing therapies and facilities on-site including physiotherapy and play therapy.
This school has fantastic opportunities for professional development & continuous support from the senior leadership team and specialist colleagues. Pay can be up to £110 a day, depending on experience and if you can impress during a paid trial, which the school is more than happy to arrange to give you a real taste. Experience is by no means required, so this is a great opportunity if you’re looking to kick start a career in special education or just develop your existing skills further.
