A growing, forward-thinking accountancy practice seeking a talented Semi Senior Accountant to join its busy Accounts department. You’ll be working closely with clients across a range of industries, handling everything from preparing complex accounts to supporting junior staff development. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an accountancy practice environment
  • ACA/ACCA trainee or fully qualified AAT (within or outside an apprenticeship)
  • Strong technical knowledge, with audit experience advantageous
  • High attention to detail, discretion and commitment to continuous professional development
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Supportive, approachable and confident in training junior colleagues

    Pay: £25,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
    Work Location: Hybrid remote in Braintree CM
Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of client accounts, including VAT and PAYE reconciliations, statutory accounts preparation and management accounts analysis
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on work prepared by junior team members, offering additional training where needed
  • Prepare annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in line with current reporting standards (FRS105, FRS102(1a) desirable)
  • Complete draft tax computations for corporate clients prior to tax manager review
  • Carry out analytical reviews on financial statements, flagging unusual trends or variances
  • Ensure all working papers are prepared in accordance with internal processes and statutory deadlines
  • Handle VAT returns, liaising directly with clients on liabilities and submissions
  • Participate in audit assignments under the guidance of the Audit Manager, completing testing on various balance sheet and P&L items
  • Mentor and train accounts and audit assistants, helping to identify development needs
  • Keep managers updated on progress against budgets and statutory timeframes
