SEN CLASS TEACHER

Location: Pilning, Bristol, BS35 4JN
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £31,650 – £47,338 (M1 – UPS2)*
Hours: 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an inspirational SEN Class Teacher to join a specialist education setting for students aged 7–19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and associated communication needs. The school offers a tailored curriculum with a focus on academic progress, life skills, and social development, in a setting known for its positive and supportive behaviour culture.
You will teach across KS3/KS4 and lead learning in subjects such as Maths, Computing, or others, depending on your expertise. You’ll support pupils in achieving a variety of accreditations including GCSEs, Functional Skills, and Entry Level qualifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Support learners to make academic, emotional and social progress
  • Use a range of visual and structured teaching strategies to engage and motivate pupils with Autism, ADHD, PDA, OCD, and other related needs
  • Provide direction and support to Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, including contributing to their professional development
  • Ensure the implementation of school policies, including safeguarding, SEND, and equality
  • Monitor student well-being, report concerns, and work closely with the pastoral, clinical and SEND teams
  • Foster independence and resilience in pupils both in and out of the classroom
