CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision performs non-routine, complex work. Duties are those associated with a systems administrator or systems analyst with the addition of a leadership role. Plans, conducts, and may supervise assignments. Reviews progress and evaluates results. Participates in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring for purchase and maintenance of hardware and software. Designs and implements integrated hardware and software computer and information systems to meet organizational requirements. Makes recommendations to change procedures. May supervise and train subordinates.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSE, EQUIVALENCY

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.; Required Experience: Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency: None; Required Certification/License:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocol. Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment.; SKILLS:Skill in records maintenance, budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Must be US citizen.
The ability to obtain a government secret clearance within one year is required. Must maintain secret clearance throughout employment.

Responsibilities

CLASSIFICATION STANDARD DUTIES:

Maintains current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Participates in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring for purchase and maintenance of hardware and software. Designs and implements integrated hardware and software computer and information systems to meet organizational requirements. Analyzes management needs regarding use of integrated data processing equipment or operations and processes. Plans, coordinates, and schedules investigations, feasibility studies and surveys, including economic evaluation of proposed and existing automatic data processing and machine applications. May supervise and train subordinates. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees all NOC operations, including the helpdesk, network monitoring, and issue resolution for broadband services supporting K-12 schools across New Mexico. This includes supervising a team of technical staff and ensuring that NOC processes and protocols are optimized for efficient and reliable operations. The role requires a high level of technical expertise in networking, with responsibility for troubleshooting complex issues, managing escalations, and maintaining system uptime.
This position is instrumental in coordinating with the SEN SOC to ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place across the network. The NOC Supervisor develops and implements policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance network performance, security, and reliability. The role also involves proactive monitoring and analysis to identify potential risks and optimize system performance.
Oversees the NOC budget, including procurement of hardware, software, and services necessary for operations. They perform strategic planning to align the NOC’s goals with SEN’s mission of providing reliable and secure broadband connectivity to New Mexico’s K-12 schools. The Supervisor exercises significant autonomy in decision-making, ensuring the NOC meets service level agreements and contractual obligations while maintaining close collaboration with the PSL IT Department Manager and other stakeholders.
