SEN PASSENGER ASSISTANT

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Passenger Assistants for our Home to School Transport service!
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and comfortable transport of special educational needs (SEN) or vulnerable students to and from their school, college or adult day centre. Your primary responsibility will be to provide assistance, support, and care to students during their journey.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to be first aid trained and potentially specialist medically trained (L3), if required.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings and afternoons.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Pass an enhanced criminal record check (DBS).
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and adults during transportation to and from their school, college or day centres on a daily basis.
  • Assist students with special needs, including those with physical disabilities, cognitive impairments, or behavioural challenges.
  • Help students board and disembark from the vehicle safely, providing physical support as necessary.
  • Secure students’ seat belts, harnesses, or other safety equipment before departure.
  • Maintain a calm and supportive environment within the vehicle, promoting positive interactions among students.
  • Observe and monitor students’ behaviour and report any issues promptly and appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and any relevant information, and communicate with the office.
  • Foster open communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on the students’ well-being and any noteworthy events during transportation.
