SEN PE TEACHER

Location: Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire
Salary: M1 – M6 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in Primary or Secondary settings with a PE specialism.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with SEND, SEMH, and autism.
  • Experience in curriculum development for students with additional needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management strategies.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an SEN PE Teacher to join our specialist education team in Leyland, providing high-quality Key Stage 2 and Physical Education teaching in small classes of up to 8 students. Our school supports students aged 9-16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, offering a therapeutic and structured learning environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced teacher who wants to make a real difference in the lives of students who require adapted learning and additional emotional support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons alongside Key Stage 2 curriculum subjects.
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the class, ensuring a structured and positive learning environment.
  • Assess, record, and report pupils’ progress, tailoring lessons to their individual needs.
  • Lead and support Assistant Teachers and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants, including providing professional development and performance reviews.
  • Contribute to staff meetings, multi-disciplinary discussions, and safeguarding policies.
  • Ensure students’ health, well-being, and personal care needs are met, liaising with the necessary professionals as required.
