Overview SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant with experience with children with severe complex needs. Location: Newcastle, Stoke-on-Trent ST6. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday each week - long term role. Must have a DBS on the update service as this is an ASAP start) - starting next week!
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our educational team in nurturing and guiding students, particularly those with special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, especially those with autism or other disabilities, and possess strong communication skills. This role is essential in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with autism or disabilities, is highly desirable.
  • A background in teaching or special education is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children learn and grow.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, particularly those with autism or other disabilities, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Support students during playtime and other activities, including toddler care when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff to develop individual education plans (IEPs) for students requiring special education services.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education practices.
