Are you ready to make a difference every single day? We’re looking for compassionate, proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking special school in Chelmsford, supporting pupils aged 4–18 with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

What Makes This Role Special?

  • Cutting-Edge Approach: Support a curriculum that prioritises communication, emotional well-being, and preparing for life beyond school.
  • Outstanding Facilities: Access purpose-built classrooms, therapy spaces, and sensory environments that enable truly personalised support.
  • Professional Growth: Benefit from a structured training programme and opportunities to develop your skills in SEND practice.
  • Supportive Culture: Join a team that values collaboration, well-being, and balance — for both pupils and staff.

Your Role Day-to-Day

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
  • Assist with classroom activities, behaviour regulation, and personal care.
  • Encourage communication, social skills, and independence in everyday learning.
  • Help prepare resources and maintain a supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide consistent, nurturing support.
  • Contribute to progress reviews, safeguarding practices, and SEND training.

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSEs in English & Maths (grade 4–9 or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in education, care, or similar settings).
  • A patient, caring, and resilient nature.
  • The ability to adapt quickly and use initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and a team spirit.
  • Willingness to support with personal care when required.

Safeguarding
All applicants must share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS and full pre-employment checks will be required.
