Responsibilities:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting a Reception pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This child is rejoining the school after time in Nursery and needs focused support to develop social skills, particularly around friendship building and managing interactions.

Your role as SEN Teaching Assistant will involve:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to help the pupil engage fully in classroom activities.
  • Encouraging positive social interactions and helping the child build friendships.
  • Implementing tailored strategies to support emotional regulation and redirect challenging behaviours in a nurturing way.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers and the SEN team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
