SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – MAINSTREAM SECONDARY (TERM TIME ONLY)

Location: Buckinghamshire
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only (plus 5 INSET days)
We’re working with a fantastic mainstream secondary school in Buckinghamshire that is looking to appoint a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support to students with additional needs in the classroom.
This is a full-time, term-time only role, ideal for someone with experience supporting young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or learning differences. You’ll be working primarily within mainstream lessons, helping students engage with the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive in a supportive learning environment.

Pay: £24,822.00-£26,332.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Supporting students with special educational needs across a range of subjects
  • Providing in-class support under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Delivering occasional 1:1 or small group interventions focusing on engagement, emotional regulation, or key skills
  • Encouraging independence while scaffolding learning where needed
  • Building strong working relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress
    The ideal candidate will be calm, patient, and proactive, with a genuine passion for inclusion and supporting young people to succeed. Previous experience as a TA or in a pastoral/SEND role is desirable, though training and support will be provided.
    You’ll also benefit from ongoing CPD in areas like trauma-informed practice, behaviour support, and SEN, as well as being part of a nurturing and collaborative team.
