Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

You will:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to pupils aged 4–19.
  • Assist students with a variety of learning needs, as well as personal care tasks, including moving and handling using hoists when required.
  • Offer consistent emotional and behavioural support, remaining flexible in response to changes in routine or behaviour.
  • Help create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
  • Build meaningful and trusting relationships with students to support their academic and personal development.

To be considered for the role of a Teaching Assistant in SEN schools you will:

  • Be flexible.
  • Experience in Classroom Support (Preferable)
  • have your own transport
  • Experience with both small group and 1:1 is beneficial
  • Friendly and nurturing qualities.
  • Competent behaviour management skills.
  • Familiarity with a range of needs (e.g., ASD - Autistic Spectrum Disorder, SLD - Severe Learning Difficulty and PMLD - Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty).
  • Preferably moving and handling training or have recent experience in this.
  • Have a patient and caring nature.
  • Have a desire to work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Willing to complete CPD training
