Overview and Responsibilities 🌟 Join Aurora Ravensfield School as Our SENCO! 🌟 Location: Stratford St Mary Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Annual Salary: M1 to UPS3 £32,916 to £51,048 (depending on skills and experience) Ideal Start Date: April 2026 As part of our growth strategy; we’re really pleased to be opening a brand new SEN School in Autumn 2026 – Aurora Ravensfield. Based in Colchester this brand new school will have a proposed capacity of 82 students aged 5-19. The “old School House” is situated in the picturesque village of Stratford St Mary and will service Essex and Suffolk local authorities. The building will have a variety of classrooms and therapy spaces including a specialist Science and Cookery rooms. Aurora Ravensfield School is seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead and champion our provision for students with complex and special educational needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a specialist SEMH setting, working closely with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure every student reaches their full potential. 🧭 About the Role As SENCO, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality, inclusive education across the school. You’ll lead the Annual Review process, support staff development, and ensure that our SEN provision meets the highest standards. You’ll be responsible for: Promoting an inclusive approach to SEN across the school Liaising with EHCP Coordinators and external professionals Supporting teaching staff with specialist training and strategies Monitoring and evaluating SEN teaching and learning Leading on assessment, data tracking, and reporting Providing CPD and INSET on SEN best practice Contributing to strategic planning and school improvement Skills and Qualifications 🎯 What We’re Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and PGCE or equivalent SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete within 3 years) Experience working with pupils with SEN, ideally in a specialist setting Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills A collaborative, creative, and child-centred approach It is an exciting time to be part of Aurora and this is a unique career opportunity to make your mark on our growing services.
