FULLY REMOTE WORKING

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Officer to successfully develop and maintain Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs) for our local authority client in the North of England.
The SEND Officer will provide support and advice to families and education settings whilst sourcing appropriate provision to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience of working within a Local Authority SEND Team.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, in particular the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
  • Experience in case management with the ability to manage a caseload effectively while keeping accurate, up-to-date records.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to draft clear and concise plans which are outcomes focussed.
  • Strong sense of advocacy to represent and support the voice of the child or young person and their family.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build trust and maintain positive relationships with families and professionals
Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate an outcome focused, multi-agency approach to the assessment of children and young people with SEND.
  • Act as first point of contact for service providers and families to ensure that the provision outlined in the EHCP is being delivered effectively and within the statutory timeframe.
  • Represent the Local Authority at informal and formal mediation and appeals including those at First Tier Tribunal.
