SEND TEACHER - SUPPORTING PUPILS WITH SLD & PMLD

Location: Hammersmith and Fulham
Contract Type: Full Time, Long Term

Are you a compassionate and skilled educator passionate about supporting students with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? We are seeking a SEND Teacher to join a dedicated team, providing specialist education for pupils aged 2 to 19 years.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Overseas Teaching Certificate recognised by Naric
  • Experience working with SLD/PMLD students in a mainstream or special education setting
  • A patient, flexible, and understanding approach
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding
  • A DBS check registered on the update service
  • Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, and other augmentative communication methods (advantageous but not essential)

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This rewarding position requires an understanding of individualised education and the ability to foster engagement, independence, and inclusion. You will work with a diverse group of students in a well-resourced environment that ensures meaningful access to the National Curriculum, tailored to each child’s needs.
The school serves the Hammersmith and Fulham community, welcoming pupils from neighbouring boroughs. Students either have a statement of special educational needs, with annual reviews, or attend on an assessment placement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons that support individual EHCPs
  • Assess and track student progress, ensuring their development
  • Ensure safeguarding and well-being of all students
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to provide the best learning environment
