At Chance 2 Change, we pride ourselves on creating a unique, nurturing, exciting learning environment that embraces all types of learners and promotes academic and personal growth. Our site offers one-to-one and/or small group sessions for children and young people in Key Stages 3 and 4. Our Alternative Provision specialises in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and has a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) overseeing our provision. We offer tailored education and support services to children and young people who may require additional support in mainstream education or assistance in accessing education. This includes Functional Skills in Maths and English and a range of vocational accredited qualifications in Hair and Beauty, Barbering, Music and Cooking. Our experienced team provides a safe and supportive environment that helps our learners thrive and reach their full potential. We also offer in-house mentoring sessions and therapeutic support, such as therapeutic art, sports, forest school and animal care.

JOB DESCRIPTION

At Chance 2 Change, safeguarding is our main priority; we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. We are looking for someone passionate about teaching English and Maths at functional skills and GCSE level. You will need to be confident in safeguarding and have a proven track record of delivering the following:

  • The ability to understand how to meet targeted EHCP outcomes
  • Assessing students’ skills and determining their educational needs in a nurturing environment
  • Adapting general lessons to meet students’ needs
  • Developing Individualised Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
  • Planning fun activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
  • Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
  • Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
  • Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
  • Discuss students’ progress with parents, other teachers, senior leaders, EQA, and administrators
  • Provide session, weekly and termly reports
  • Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students
  • Prepare and help students transition back to school through the national curriculum pathway or support to achieve in-house outcomes using the functional skills framework.

At Chance 2 Change, the cohort of learners includes students with an EHCP or who are vulnerable, and school refusers. Due to the cohort of students at our provision, we are looking for staff who are nurturing, patient, have relatable experiences they can share and use to set positive examples.
