JOB OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team at a specialist setting in Westminster catering to pupils with a wide range of complex learning needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-resourced environment, providing life-changing support to pupils aged 3–19.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and safeguarding
  • Patience, resilience, and a calm approach to challenging behaviour
  • Willingness to undertake training in relevant strategies and care routines
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with high expectations for all learners
Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with severe learning difficulties, autism, and associated communication needs
  • Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Support with physical care needs including toileting, feeding, and mobility where necessary
  • Use a range of communication strategies including Makaton and PECS
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
