Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Connex Education is working with a specialist educational setting in the Colchester area to recruit a compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time, fixed-term role beginning in September 2025.
This setting supports pupils with a wide range of complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language difficulties, sensory processing differences, and physical disabilities. The school follows a highly personalised approach to education, focusing on the individual needs and development of each pupil in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in special education who is looking to contribute to a dedicated team and make a real difference in the lives of young people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with complex needs
  • Support pupils’ communication, sensory, and learning development throughout the school day
  • Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and targeted learning activities
  • Assist with structured routines, personal care, and promoting independence
  • Foster a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver high-quality care and learning
