An excellent opportunity has arisen at a supportive partner school in Islington for a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant role starting in September 2025.
SEND Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs & SEMH) – Job Summary
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of Special Educational Needs, particularly Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will provide support in both group and one-to-one settings within the classroom environment.

SEND Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs & SEMH) – Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2:1 degree from a UK university.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people, particularly with SEMH or SEN, is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Genuine interest in progressing in education or child psychology
Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities.
  • Adapting support approaches to suit individual pupil needs.
  • Promoting pupil progress and emotional development.
  • Gaining practical experience supporting pupils with complex learning and behavioural challenges.
    This role offers valuable exposure for candidates aspiring to careers such as SEN Teacher, Educational Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist.
