WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL EHCP COORDINATOR?

The successful candidate will also be required to support colleagues to ensure that we are providing a consistent, supportive approach to those with additional needs.
You will have sound knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities and experience of working with special educational needs. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience of chairing meetings and organising a busy work schedule. Effective professional relationships with colleagues, learners and the wider community are essential. Excellent organisational and administrative skills are required.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE AS A EHCP COORDINATOR:

The EHCP Coordinator will work to support learners who face substantial barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the EHCP processes for learners with SEN within the school and collaborate with external agencies to support the transition of pupils into Secondary School. The role will include working with all staff to raise awareness of additional needs as required and co-ordinating the pupil support plans that we also have.
This is a permanent, part-time role based at Greenwich House School paid on a pro rata basis. There is also the opportunity to be a member of our teaching staff if relevent qualifications are met which would mean additional hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate special educational needs initiatives within the school. Responsible for all EHC plans.
  • Develop and implement pupil support plans (PSPs) for students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and support staff to ensure student progress.
  • Manage behaviour and provide support to students with diverse needs.
  • Organise and maintain records related to special education services and student assessments.
  • Mentor and train staff on best practices in special education and behavior management.

    For the classroom based element of this role we are looking at a Teaching Assistant or Higher-Level Learning Partner (HLTA/HLLP) to join our dedicated and friendly team. The main purpose of the role is to support teaching and learning within classes, supporting teaching staff with their responsibility for the development and education of pupils in small groups. The role requires enthusiasm, hard work and a passion for supporting high quality learning to maximise a pupil’s potential.
