QUALIFICATIONS

University graduation in a related field such Public administration, Social Sciences, Legal Studies plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described

Directly related experience or education considered based on:

  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Required

  • Experience in written communications (preparing briefing notes, etc.) for various stakeholders.
  • Experience with research, analyzing data and preparing reports to allow management to make informed decisions.

Assets

  • Experience in information access and/or information privacy specific roles would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with the ATI Act and/or graduation from the Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) certificate program from the University of Alberta are assets.
  • Experience in facilitating training and/or participation in work groups and/or committees would be considered an asset.

Reporting to the ATI Coordinator, the Senior ATI advisor contributes to Sector compliance with the legislated and policy requirements of the ATI Act and performs these core functions

  • Responds and/or provides recommendations on ATI requests, consultation requests, formal correction requests in accordance with ATI and other relevant legislation.
  • Delivers consistent, effective and efficient ATI services to the client ministry.
  • Provides mentorship and coaching as required to junior staff.
  • Assists the ATI Coordinator with Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner ( OIPC) matters.
  • Consults with other public bodies, governments and with third parties on the release of records in which they have an interest

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Access to information Act (ATI) and Information Management Division in Service Alberta is responsible for the province-wide administration of the Access to Information Act. In addition, the division delivers the ATI program for all Government of Alberta departments, and some of their agencies, boards and commissions.
