Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services, from natural hazards, fire safety, and human and organizational risk factors to in-depth analysis of industry operations, and financial exposures, across all industry sectors and risks. We also focus on delivering bespoke training plans to help our clients to optimize risk management procedures in the long term. As a risk consultant, you will work closely with underwriting, claims, distribution and communications to service assigned accounts. You will actively support the growth of our broader Natural Resources and Construction portfolio such as expanding our expertise in renewable energies and sustainable operations as well as broadening our outreach to clients in the conventional power sector. The Impact You Will Have Reporting to the Regional Manager for Natural Resources & Construction Risk Consulting, NA, you will be responsible for providing technical support and risk analysis services to Underwriters and Clients. Some of your specific responsibilities could include: Develop and maintain professional working relationships with AzC Underwriting, Business Development, Market Management & Claims personnel along with Co-workers, Clients and Brokers Evaluate Risk Information and perform desktop review (DTR) risk analyses for underwriting purposes, working side by side underwriting colleagues as an enabler of the business by assisting in risk selection and retention Analyze data to assess client risk profiles and provide reports and recommendations Maintain technical knowledge and assist in the development of technical materials for the use of engineers and underwriters as well as supporting technical training and other development initiatives within the global ARC Team. Perform desk top risk analysis, field surveys, and virtual surveys of various power generation technologies using ARC proprietary risk analysis and reporting tool, GREAT. Understand machinery and property loss exposures during commercial operation, along with construction testing phases of power plant development. Have a strong understanding of business interruption loss exposures due to property and/or MB perils. Handle assigned accounts from an entrepreneurial perspective. Work collaboratively with Underwriters in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines. Perform occasional field surveys as necessary, develop and distribute internal and external loss control reports and recommendations; review/analyze third party reports and recommendations for incorporation in Annual Account Summaries as needed; develop professional written correspondence as necessary. Meet reporting deadlines in accordance with departmental performance objectives. Stay current with industry trends particularly in the areas of supply chain and adoption of new technologies and technical developments in the Power sector through attendance at relevant industry seminars/conferences, collaboration with peers and Allianz expert groups, and self-study. Contribute to the growth and improvement of technical strengths of local and global peers through the development of technical articles, write papers, etc. along with close affiliation with Allianz Risk Consulting global expert teams. Assist Allianz UW and ARC peers and global network with respect to ongoing or specific projects. Support technical training presentations for internal and external clients as required/appropriate. Be a primary resource in the development and training and mentoring of new peers in North America. What You’ll Bring to the Role – Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in the power industry; Master’s Degree and/or Professional Engineering license preferred Insurance risk consulting experience and a professional engineering license is a definite plus. Previous Account Coordination experience with collaborative working relationship with underwriters, brokers, and client management personnel. Highly organized and self-directed, able to communicate/negotiate with broker engineers. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to understand design concepts in power generation industry sufficient to perform an insurance risk assessment for Property perils (fire/explosion/NatCat), Machinery Breakdown, and Business Interruption. Practical, “hands on” risk assessment experience through on-site surveys. Experience working in a Global Organization with the ability to adapt to change. Excellent communication skills – and ability to do so effectively with both internal and external clients at all levels. A bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant Engineering Discipline. Other discipline will be considered in conjunction with extensive technical expertise or experience in the Power industry. Ability to work effectively remotely with computer operational technology in a home office environment and in a team environment. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to travel throughout the US and Canada as required, with some international travel possible. The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-today tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable. A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected. The annualized base pay range for this role is $98,700 - $169,800. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
