SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting in the overall fiscal control of the organization, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll processing, auditing, receipts, disbursements, grant billing, fixed asset and contract budget preparation and revision.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have strong computer skills; knowledge of Word, Outlook, and be proficient in Excel.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and job-related work experience in accounting field is required with at least five (5) years or more experience in related functions.
  • Not-for-profit background is preferred
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the general ledger in Blackbaud’s Financial Edge software
  • Prepare and record recurring month end journal entries and standard journal entries including, but not limited to, cost allocations, prepaid expenses, monthly accruals, bank and investment account activity, payroll journal entries, etc.
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and investment account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset journal entries and record depreciation expense.
  • Prepare all monthly general ledger account reconciliations & analyses for month-end close
  • Prepare and maintain annual audit analyses for balance sheet & income statement accounts
  • Assist with government grant billings, including identifying and assuring that all documentation is available for costs eligible for reimbursement from the various grants.
  • Prepare and monitor budget reports and budget amendments, per grant requirements.
  • Prepare variance analysis on monthly and annual finance statements
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and compliance audits by various funding sources
  • Assist with tax preparations and ad-hoc reporting support to the operations teams
  • Adhere to standard practice internal control procedures for all aspects of accounting.
  • Assist with administration of all employees insurance benefits reconcile and prepare journal entries.
  • All other duties as assigned by the CFO.
