POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join us on a temporary basis (12 months). This is a parental leave coverage, with the possibility of becoming permanent. This role will focus on month-end closings, audit preparations, monthly margin reporting, and ad-hoc analysis. Additionally, you will play a key role in annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and strategic financial analysis. This position is well-suited for someone with a robust understanding of accounting principles and strong analytical skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of accounting experience (time within the investment or financial services industry is an asset)
- CPA designation (or significant progress toward it) required; CFA designation is a plus
- Experience in public practice is preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
- Advanced Excel skills, experience with QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) is an asset
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Growth mindset with a focus on continuous process improvements, efficiency optimization and learning

Responsibilities:
- Lead and support month-end closing processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare detailed month-end schedules and reconcile intercompany balances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly margin reports, analyze key performance metrics, and provide insights to management.
- Process monthly cheque runs, ensuring proper controls and accurate disbursements.
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax filings, coordinating with tax advisors as needed.
- Support external audit preparations, working closely with auditors to provide necessary documentation.
- Contribute to the development and analysis of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting, offering insights for management decision-making.
- Support variance analysis, identifying key drivers and making recommendations to address variances.
- Enhance reporting accuracy and streamline reporting processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
