Due to rapid growth, we are expanding our accounting department and are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role will help shape the future of our business and play a critical part in meeting our reporting needs.
Position Overview: As an experienced Senior Accountant, you will play an integral role in supporting the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations while also contributing to long-term financial planning and reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to lead and mentor junior staff. This position will have an opportunity to grow with the business and will report directly to a seasoned Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS (MANDATORY):

  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience as a Senior Accountant in a fast-paced environment. Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Education: B.S. in accounting, finance, or business (concentration in accounting or finance).
  • Background: A strong foundation in accounting principles and experience with general ledger functions, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently while knowing when to seek assistance.
  • Attention to details: Detail-oriented, meticulous in reviewing and verifying financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Teachable: Open to feedback, committed to personal and professional growth, and willing to take on responsibilities beyond the standard scope of accounting work.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: Eager to investigate and understand complex issues in accounting and finance, proactive in learning about the business and understanding the needs of business partners.
  • Team Player: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work well in a team environment, while also being able to work autonomously.
  • Problem Solver: A critical thinker who can navigate challenges with innovative solutions, bringing both the problem and proposed solutions to the table.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Exposure to monthly reporting.
  • Familiarity with the travel or insurance industries.
  • Experience working in a company undergoing rapid growth and change.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who will go to the office at least once a month.

Responsibilities
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures, including preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis against budget/forecast.
  • Support external audits, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Support tax filings, compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee receivables and monthly revenue reconciliation.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable Cycle.
  • Conduct research and analysis on accounting issues as they arise.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support financial and operational needs.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new accounting processes and systems as we scale.
  • Proactively identify areas of inefficiency, and make recommendations for improvement accordingly.
  • Participate in special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.
