Position Overview: Annelida is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting all financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong accounting background and excellent analytical skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Actively working towards a CPA designation or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent project management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand, apply, and maintain system automations to streamline processes.
  • Preparing Financial Statements
  • Ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy of all data entry.
  • Perform basic reconciliations including cash, credit card, and AR/AP statements of account.
  • Execute routine finance-related administrative duties:
  • New vendor onboarding.
  • Credit applications and associated follow-ups.
  • Collection and organization of necessary financial documents.
  • Proactively identify and correct discrepancies and errors in financial records.
  • Ensure accuracy of bills and accruals.
  • Assist in month-end close processes.
  • Conduct advanced reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, and payroll.
  • Prepare and support the development of the weekly cash forecast.
  • Generate routine and ad hoc financial reports.
  • Perform variance analysis of financials to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with the maintenance and optimization of accounting systems and software.
  • Provide reporting and analysis to support the Operations team as required.
  • Ensure system integration and accuracy between operational and financial systems.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and address weaknesses in system automations.
  • Prepare other financial reports and analyses as needed.
  • Recommend and implement changes to accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency.
