JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sr. Accountant will support general ledger operations, assist with monthly and annual financial close processes, and perform account reconciliations. You will prepare financial reports, including project-specific summaries, weekly updates, and monthly statements, while ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and upholding internal control standards. The role involves managing client billing procedures, reviewing vendor bills, and facilitating approvals and purchasing arrangements. You will collaborate with Project Managers, Consultants, and Clients to verify project data accuracy and support project setup, budgeting, documentation, and insurance certificate management.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Experience in accounting and project billing.
  • Sr. Accountant experience.
  • Finance or Accounting degree preferred.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the architecture industry would be a plus.
  • Job costing experience.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support general ledger operations and assist with monthly and annual financial close processes.
  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare financial reports including project-specific summaries, weekly updates, and monthly statements.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and uphold internal control standards.
  • Manage client billing procedures, ensuring invoices are accurate and sent on time.
  • Review vendor bills and expense distributions, verify compliance, and assist with negotiating vendor contracts.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Consultants, and Clients to verify project data accuracy and ensure proper input into accounting systems.
  • Track project financial performance, including profitability, budget vs. actuals, and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.
  • Partner with Project Managers to improve financial results and forecast revenue.
  • Draft and review contracts, assignments, and other project-related agreements.
  • Lead the contract process, provide guidance to stakeholders, and offer negotiation support when needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile records of fixed assets.
