Job Title: Accountant Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated Accountant to join our team and support the accounting functions for a large manufacturing client. This role involves performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and preparing financial reports. The Accountant will play a key role in the operations of both regional and client-specific accounting functions. Responsibilities Accurately prepare and record complex monthly journal entries related to month-end close. Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations and assist with forecasting expenses in assigned accounts. Communicate and coordinate with plant accountants, segment leads, and third-party service providers to obtain necessary information for analysis, forecasts, and reconciliations. Enter, revise, sort, and create tables for analysis on high-priority accounts and quarter/year-end packages. Understand transactional flows within the business process related to assigned general ledger accounts. Maintain internal control compliance, identify control weaknesses, and support internal and external audit requests. Suggest process improvements to ensure effective controls over financial accounting and reporting for the region. Create and update detailed process documentation, ensuring accounting implications are clear. Monitor compliance with GAAP and company procedures. Communicate effectively and mentor staff accountants. Act as a point of contact for general accounting questions from dependent accounting services. Prepare special projects, ad hoc requests, and other analyses as assigned by management. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in dealing with critical and confidential matters. Essential Skills 4+ years of progressive experience with at least 2 years as a Accountant. Proficiency in month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and revenue recognition. Experience with intercompany transactions and recharges. Large ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics). Knowledge of US GAAP, Internal Controls, and SOX Compliance. Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (Pivots, Vlookups, Xlookups). Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats. Additional Skills & Qualifications Flux analysis experience. CPA designation or near completion of CPA (CA, CMA, CGA). Experience with Hyperion or HFM. Experience in a publicly traded manufacturing company. Ability to process close periods in under 4 days. Proactive and eager to learn, with strong organizational skills. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burnaby, BC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88/hr. Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Burnaby,BC.
