Reporting to the Controller, this role requires a strong background in accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), cost accounting, monthly reconciliations, and month-end closing processes. With strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, the Senior Accountant contributes to accurate reporting, risk assessment, and informed decision-making to support the company's financial health and growth. The job duties include, but are not limited to: • Accounts Payable (A/P) Review & Approvals: Review A/P invoices for Athena Corp, ensuring proper authorization, coding, and compliance with budget guidelines before processing payments. • Accounts Receivable (A/R): Manage the collection and posting of customer payments, ensuring that all receivables are properly tracked and reconciled. • Cost Account Verification: Review and verify cost coding for various projects and departments to ensure proper allocation and accurate financial reporting. • Daily Credit Card Review & Receipt Verifications: Review daily credit card transactions, ensuring receipts are verified, reconciled, and recorded accurately within the accounting system. • Sales Tax Returns: Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple states, ensuring compliance with varying state tax regulations and deadlines. • Audit Support: Provide assistance during internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reports, and necessary documentation. Respond to audit inquiries and ensure audit procedures are followed. • Expense-to-Budget Reporting: Prepare and review monthly expense-to-budget reports, identifying variances and providing recommendations for corrective actions. • Month-End Close Support & Reconciliations: Assist with the month-end close process for Athena Corp by ensuring accurate recording of transactions and preparing reconciliations for all relevant accounts. • Other Admin & Accounting Duties: Support the finance team with other administrative and accounting tasks as the position grows, including ad hoc financial reporting, process improvements, and any other duties as required by the Controller. Qualifications Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 4-7 years of experience in accounting, including strong A/P, A/R, month-end close, and reconciliation experience. • Public Accounting experience is preferred.
