This is a genuine opportunity for an experienced accountant ready to take real ownership of a finance function. Our client is a privately owned land development business that has experienced significant growth over the past 10 years, with an established project pipeline and a lean, entrepreneurial team.

The role

Reporting to senior leadership, you'll take ownership across:

• Financial reporting and financial controls across development projects
• Compliance obligations, including BAS preparation and annual financial statements
• Management of a junior bookkeeper, reviewing day-to-day transactional work
• Project feasibilities and commercial analysis for new opportunities
• Broader project work alongside the finance function
• Liaison with external accountants on tax and reporting matters

Genuine autonomy and influence from day one, with real scope to shape how the finance function is built.

What they're looking for

CA/CPA qualified with at least 5 years' relevant experience. Previous exposure to property development, construction or land subdivision is preferred, but the background matters less than the person. Specifically:

• A genuine sense of ownership and accountability
• Comfortable managing others and reviewing their work
• Strong technical accounting, tax compliance and reporting knowledge
• Ability to work independently within a small business environment
• Detail-oriented with strong Excel capability
• Collaborative, positive and happy to roll up their sleeves
