MBC Companies in Wilkes-Barre, PA is looking for a Senior Accountant with cost accounting experience to support the accounting department in activities by preparing journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger close. Assists in the preparation and distribution of financial statements. Ensures that all deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s in accounting or related field
  2. 4-6 years of experience; or a combination of education and experience
  3. Relies on experience and judgment. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Primary duties
1. Responsible for journal entries and monthly reconciliations.
2. Performs variance analyses and prepares monthly account reconciliations.
3. Analyzes revenues, commissions and expenses, records them appropriately on a monthly basis.
4. Capable of building cost and pricing models that detail Direct Labor Crew sizes and costs, Material and Packaging costs, planned waste, Variable Overhead, and Fixed OH and its impact based on capacity planning.
5. Analyzes production runs to capture and summarize favorable or unfavorable impact on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
6. Communicates and report plant production costs to inform management of improving or worsening results
7. Annually update price lists using projected costs (Direct Labor, Material/Packaging, Storage & Transportation e.g. distribution, VOH, FOH) to be used for annual k-12 school bids in addition to ad-hoc pricing/costing for products sold in other channels (Retail, C-Store, QSR)
8. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
9. Reconciles bank accounts, accounts receivable, and payroll account.
10. Documents and monitors internal controls in support of the Controller.
11. Responsible for Fixed Asset accounting.
12. Assists with completion of the quarterly and annual regulatory filings; preparation of assigned Quarterly and Annual Statutory Statement.
13. Assists with financial audits and tax filing.
14. Coordinates more complex accounting projects and initiatives with the Controller.
15. Learns all aspects of company’s accounting software.
16. Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
17. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
